The school day
The School Day at
Burton Borough School
At Burton Borough School, we aim to create a calm, structured, and welcoming start to every day. A consistent routine supports positive habits, punctuality, and readiness to learn.
Start of the Day
- Student Arrival Window: 8:35am – 8:45am
Students are expected to arrive on-site between these times. - Morning Welcome: 8:45am – 8:50am
A short welcome session to prepare students for the day ahead. - Form Time: 8:50am – 9:15am
Daily form time includes attendance, key notices, pastoral activities, and the opportunity to check in with tutors.
The main student gate closes at 8:45am.
Students arriving after this time must enter through the late door and will be marked as late in the register.
Expectations Around Punctuality
We expect all students to:
- Arrive between 8:35am and 8:45am
- Be fully equipped and ready to start the day
- Be punctual and responsible for managing their time
If a student is late due to exceptional circumstances outside of their control, this should be reported to the Attendance Team as soon as possible.
End of the Day
- School ends at 3:10pm
- After-school activities, clubs, and interventions run from 3:15pm onwards
These sessions provide valuable opportunities for academic support, skill development, and enrichment.
Daily Timetable
Burton Borough follows a 5-period day, with split breaks and lunchtimes for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, on a two-week rotation.
This approach ensures smooth movement around the school and an age-appropriate experience during social times.
